About
Whats up? You have stumbled across my shared triathlon journal. This is where I log and share my training and racing results as well as my thoughts on life as an amateur triathlete. Hopefully I can use this to look back on my training, time management, rest even my “real” job to see what works and what doesn’t. I also hope family and friends can use it to see what I’m up to and why I sleep so much!

As an active duty Lieutenant in the USN Civil Engineer Corps, work has to come first. After two years of deployments, I’ve been lucky to have had the past year and a half in San Diego on shore duty. I’ll finish up this summer and the Navy has selected me to head to graduate school next fall. I embrace the dedication, sacrifice, focus, management (and sometimes…the creativity) required of amateur athletics. Plus, I love to be outside, moving.
This year I’m resolved to do everything I can to qualify for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. My focus is oriented in a two pronged attack. 1: Kick ass at Ironman California 70.3, register for a late year North America Ironman race and qualify outright. 2: Keep building my race resume and earn the honor to represent the United States Navy on the big stage. My focus will be on aerobic development (trials of miles, or miles of trials?), weight “optimization” (I’m only fat by triathlon standards
) and time management.
